Abstract

We investigate the weak amenability of the algebra A(X) [ie. Alpha (Chi)] of approximable operators on a Banach space X, and its relation with the (bounded) approximation property. In particular, it will be shown that the (bounded) approximation property is neither necessary nor sufficient for the weak amenability of A(X).
