For the metal ruthenium, many examples of clusters with different nuclearity are known. The Ru10C2 cluster is formed by edge sharing of two Ru6C clusters. This chapter describes a synthesis of the decanuclear anion [Ru10C2(CO)24]2- from Ru3(CO)12 and calcium carbide in up to 50% yield. The chapter discusses the procedures and properties of calcium di(carbido)tetracosa(carbonyl) decaruthenium(2-) and BIS(triphenylphosphoranylidene)ammonium di (carbido)tetracosa(carbonyl)decaruthenium(2-).
