Abstract

The paper describes a large scale separation in a rarefied hypersonic flow of moderate Reynolds number and moderate density, where both DSMC and N-S simulations are compared with some experimental data. The particular configuration chosen for the study is the so called leading edge separation, first conceived by Chapman. The agreement of data between different codes and their validation with experiments is shown and discussed.
