Abstract

A study was conducted on the interaction of a dark soliton with a localized impurity in bose-einstein condensates. This situation was modeled by an external potential in the Gross-Pitaevskii (GP) equation, which, apart from the conventional confining potential of the trap incorporates an additional δ-like potential. Thus, the latter provides a phenomenological description of the presence of a sufficiently narrow impurity could be realized by a correspondingly focussed laser beam intersecting the condensate.
