Abstract
The ZrCo-based alloys can be not only regarded as promising structural materials but also used in biomedical field without the addition of toxic elements like Cu and Ni. To date, many workers have paid much attention to investigate the GFA and mechanical properties of as-cast ZrCo-based bulk metallic glasses (BMGs) and their composites. The effective evaluation parameter regarding on the GFA has been pinpointed. However, the catastrophic failure after elastic deformation and work-softening of ZrCo-based glassy alloys and composites also pose a threat toward to their applications. In this regard, the microstructural evolution and formation of ductile B2-ZrCo phase have been studied in as-quenched and as-annealed ZrCo-based alloys. The key solution to enhance the plasticity and work-softening revolves three aspects: (1) enhancing formation of the B2-ZrCo phase without too much sacrificing the GFA; (2) restricting the precipitation of brittle eutectic compounds; (3) fabricating the ZrCo-based High Entropy Alloys (HEAs).
