dc.description.abstractAlong with many other advanced economies, Australia faces an ageing population as a result of declining fertility over the last few decades and increasing longevity. The OECD (2003:1) is sounding the alarm on the economic effects of ageing, predicting falling living standards unless remedial policy action is taken.
