Abstract

Steric forces within a hexaaza bicyclic cobalt cage system cause chromophore expansions which bring about extraordinary transformations in the CoN6 chemistry, leading to Co(III/II)N6 redox potentials close to +0.8 V (vs. SHE) and Co(II) hexaamine complexes that are air and substitution stable.
