Abstract

In 1957, Arthur Everitt published his first paper on the biology of ageing in the Journal of Gerontology and in 2008 he became the only Australian to receive the Distinguished Achievement Award from the American Aging Association. In this review, Arthur Everitt with the support of two colleagues, reflects on what he believes have been the major changes in ageing research and the health of older Australians over the last 50 years.
