Abstract
We propose a general efficient 3D explicit finite difference method to calculate the dynamics of molecule reorientation in liquid crystals subject to applied electric field. This method is self consistently coupled to a static Poisson solver and it is shown how a self consistent coupling with general finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) Maxwell solvers can be realised. As numerical examples optical transmission through an empty LC-cell as well as through an array of gold nano-spheres embedded in LC-cell is analysed.
