Abstract

The magnetic behaviour of rotational bands based on natural parity single-quasi-particle states in heavy, deformed nuclei is compared with particle-rotor calculations employing the pseudo-Nilsson scheme. A comparison is also made between the intrinsic magnetic parameters, gΩ and b0, in the Nilsson and pseudo-Nilsson models. For M1 properties, the pseudo-Nilsson approximation is most appropriately applied to high-K orbits and to orbits that occur high in the shell of interest.
