Abstract
The experiences of the AMC hold a number of important lessons about building bridges in community-based natural resource management. The research found that the AMC played a key
role in coordinating the activities of diverse stakeholders in resource
management. In particular, it enabled networking between diverse and, at times, conflicting groups of stakeholders that
contributed to the development of a resource management system for an area that was previously openly accessible. It also provided access to financial and technical resources to support local initiatives. In fulfilling this role, the AMC also faced a number of challenges.
