Abstract

Measurements of ER cross sections were made for the reaction 16O + 204Pb, leading to the CN 220Th, at excitation energies between 30 and 50 MeV. It was shown that fusion with all the heavier projectiles is severely inhibited, and thus quasifission does compete with fusion at low ℓ values.
