Abstract

Despite the compelling reality of our histories and geographies, interest in Asia from the Antipodes seems cyclical. Every five to ten years, there is a resurgence of ‘engagement’ with Asia, generally spruiked from the top, with the expectation that it will be pursued down the ladder.
