Abstract

The temple dedicated to Jupiter Feretrius on the Capitoline Hill holds a place of exceptional importance in Roman religious history. Located in the Area Capitolina, the sacred precinct of the great temple dedicated to Jupiter Optimus Maximus, the temple of Jupiter Feretrius was situated within the religious heart of Rome. Moreover, the temple of Jupiter Feretrius was allegedly the first consecrated site in the city.
