Abstract

We suggest using coupled tapered waveguides for compensating losses of surface plasmon polaritons to enhance the performance of plasmonic couplers operating at the nanoscale. We demonstrate that, by an appropriate choice of the taper angle, we can effectively suppress the mode attenuation achieving the effective power transfer in both linear and nonlinear couplers.
