Species concepts and conservation
Abstract
Since the Evolutionary Synthesis of the 1930s, species have been thought of as populations (or groups of populations) that do not interbreed under natural conditions. But since about 1970 biologists have been gradually finding the problems with such a concept, and proposing alternatives.
