Abstract

The improvised solo on jazz standard "Invitation" is inspired by John Coltrane and Wayne Shorter, both of whom pushed the traditional boundaries of harmony within the solo context and seemingly created an illusion of a co-existing harmony not directly related to the basic form, therefore, creating much tension and interest.
