We report the low-loss chalcogenide waveguides for bio sensing in the mid-infrared (MIR), which consisted of a Ge11. 5As24Se64.5 rib waveguide core on a magnesium fluoride crystalline substrate. The losses were < 2dB/cm from 3000-1050cm-1 (3.2 - 9.5μm).
