Cultural advice

The Australian National University acknowledges, celebrates and pays our respects to the Ngunnawal and Ngambri people of the Canberra region and to all First Nations Australians on whose traditional lands we meet and work, and whose cultures are among the oldest continuing cultures in human history.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are advised that ANU Library collections may include images, names, voices, and other representations of deceased persons.

Material in the collection may contain terms, language or views that reflect the period in which the item was created and may be considered inappropriate today.

E: To assess improvements in perinatal health following the introduction of the Strong Women, Strong Babies, Strong Culture (SWSBSC) Program in two groups of Aboriginal communities in the Northern Territory. METHODS: A comparison of pre and post birthweights in intervention and control communities in rural and remote regions in the Top End of the Northern Territory was performed. RESULTS: Significant improvements in birthweight were observed for Group 1 communities with no significant change in Group 2. CONCLUSION: There is a need to better understand how the intervention differed in the two groups of communities.
