Abstract

Opposition to gender equality comes from multiple sources and takes different forms – including bureaucratic resistance, neoliberal marketisation, radical right-wing populism and different forms of organised religion. There are also new forms such as the cyber violence directed against gender equality advocates. Mieke Verloo’s timely collection covers all of these varieties of resistance as manifested in different parts of Europe, East and West, and in bodies such as the European Commission and the European Court of Justice.
