Abstract
This paper discusses geophysical surveys carried out at four later prehistoric multivallate enclosures in south-east Cornwall: Bake Rings and Hall Rings in Pelynt parish, Bury Down in Lanreath and Padderbury Top in St German’s. Little excavation has taken place in the south east of Cornwall and, of the four sites under discussion, only Bury Down has seen previous modern archaeological investigation. Geophysical surveys were carried out at the sites to determine their extent, preservation and the location of subsurface features. The surveys revealed clear differences between Bury Down and the other enclosures, suggesting different activities may have taken place at Bury Down compared with the others.
