Abstract

Tropical limestone landscapes are frequently characterised by residual hills. This contrasts with the temperate climate "classical" karst where the landscape is made up of closed depressions or "dolines". These hill-dominated tropical landscapes are usually divided into (i) cone karst or "kegel karst" and (ii) tower karst or "turm karst" (Sweeting,1972).
