Cultural advice

The Australian National University acknowledges, celebrates and pays our respects to the Ngunnawal and Ngambri people of the Canberra region and to all First Nations Australians on whose traditional lands we meet and work, and whose cultures are among the oldest continuing cultures in human history.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are advised that ANU Library collections may include images, names, voices, and other representations of deceased persons.

Material in the collection may contain terms, language or views that reflect the period in which the item was created and may be considered inappropriate today.

Abstract

This dictionary is an outcome of collaborative work between I Wayan Arka and a group of native speakers of Rongga as part of a three-year project (2004-6) on the documentation of Rongga, funded by The Hans-Rausing Endangered Language Project, London. This book consists of Rongga-English dan Rongga-Indonesian dictionaries with English-Rongga and Indonesian-Rongga finderlists, with a total of around 10,000 entries. Most of the entries come with examples to illustrate word meanings and/or different senses of the same words.
