| dc.description.abstract | The basic mechanisms of sound generation in wind-excited musical instruments of the reed-woodwind, brass and flute families are outlined. A survey is then given of the nonlinear effects that determine major features of sound production in these instruments. Particular attention is given to harmonic generation and loudness level, and both steady-state and transient domains are considered. The theory is presented in both the frequency and time domains, and the harmonic-balance method is also outlined. | en_AU |
