Abstract

We have developed polymerase chain reaction (PCR) based assays to examine 3 polymorphisms in GSTT2 in patients with colorectal cancer. Our results suggest that two of the sites are in linkage disequilibrium with each other and with GSTT1 genotype. Clinical parameters such as Duke's stage, differentiation, tumour location, survival, family history and presence of nodes were also investigated. We identified significant associations between GSTT2 polymorphisms and Dukeís stage. This preliminary data suggests that polymorphism at GSTT2 may be significant in determining outcome in colorectal cancer.
