Abstract

'Controlled Burn' is a mixed media artwork that uses burnt matchsticks to visualise the maximum daily temperatures for the summer months over the last six leap years for Canberra, Alice Springs and Adelaide. The series consists of 18 works on paper that translate data from the Bureau of Meteorology into a new material form. The research process included sourcing data, material investigation and studio practice over a period of 12 months.
