dc.description.abstractI still remember very vividly the moment I became hooked on the study of Indonesia and on the mystery of translation between Indonesian and English. I guess all of you, as translators, have experienced, as I did, that small (or perhaps for some, big) moment of bewilderment, of insight, of a sense of mystery... that remind us of the abiding paradox of translation: that all people - speaking through their languages and cultures - are the same and yet somehow, also deeply and mysteriously different.en_AU
