Abstract

The work is a new and innovative arrangement of the classic Deep Purple hit of the 1970s. The arrangement was a commission from the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra in early 2008. It is scored for full orchestra and rock band. Whilst the original hit relies upon only two or three actual chords, the arrangement provides enough material to keep the individual instruments technically occupied. The score innovatively utilises maintain the
