Abstract

We demonstrate experimentally electrical tuning of dielectric metasurface, consisting of silicon disks infiltrated with nematic liquid crystals. In particular, we show that by switching a control voltage on and off we can achieve 100% amplitude modulation and approximately π phase shift. This is for the first time to our knowledge demonstration of electrical tuning of dielectric metasurfaces thus opening the way for new types of electrically tunable metadevices, including dynamic displays and holograms.
