Work and family responsibilities through life

Abstract

This article provides a snapshot of paid employment and working hours through life, charting the way people juggle work and family responsibilities across their life stage transitions. It features statistics on hours worked, maternal employment and age of youngest child, working hours of fathers with young children, self employment and working at home, and employment rates for males and females by age, comparing the 1996 and 2006 Census rates.
