Abstract

The molecular structures of the two new depsidones identified in the lichens, neotricone and norperistictic acid, were investigated by studying the spectroscopic and chromatographic data. The electron impact mass spectrum of neotricone showed fragment ions bearing the expected structure. Its structure was ultimately confirmed by the partial synthesis process.
