dc.description.abstractPhotosynthetic reaction centres (RCs) are the sites of primary events in photosynthesis, where photon absorption leads to charge separation. Chen et al. recently described the RC structure in a green sulfur bacterium. Together with the structure of heliobacterial RC published previously, this study is instrumental to elucidate RC evolution to modern plant photosystems and oxygen production from water.en_AU
