Abstract
Taking Wilson's emotional ambivalence as its point of departure for an analysis of the politics of emotion in reactionary episodes of Noctes Ambrosianae, this chapter examines Noctes in the context of Menippean satire and reflects on the role of sentiment (and sentimentality) in Maga's critical practice and political self-projection as the flag-bearer of a populist Tory nationalism.
