Abstract

The Government of Indonesia has developed the institutional architecture to deliver the emission reductions commitments stated in its Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) submitted to the UNFCCC. It has also indicated a range of policies and activities that will be implemented to deliver those commitments. This paper outlines the architecture and provides an initial analysis of proposed activities to reduce emissions. It is found that proposed activities fall significantly short of the emissions reduction committed in the NDC. Policies and activities with the potential to further reduce emissions are highlighted drawing on the findings of the papers published in the Special Issue on Landuse Change in Indonesia.
