Abstract

Cladistic analyses of the family Pittosporaceae in Australia have indicated that the genus Marianthus needs reinstatement from Billardiera. Here, Marianthus is re-circumscribed and monographed. Fourteen species are recognised, excluding the now reinstated Rhytidosporum. In this treatment, two species are reinstated (M. microphyllus and M. tenuis), a new combination is made (M. mollis) and three species are described for the first time (M. dryandra, M. paralius and M. sylvaticus).
