Cultural advice

The Australian National University acknowledges, celebrates and pays our respects to the Ngunnawal and Ngambri people of the Canberra region and to all First Nations Australians on whose traditional lands we meet and work, and whose cultures are among the oldest continuing cultures in human history.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are advised that ANU Library collections may include images, names, voices, and other representations of deceased persons.

Rapidly growing demands for information processing have launched a race for compact and highly efficient optical devices transmitting signals without losses. Recently emerged topological phases of light provide unique opportunities to create new photonic systems immune to scattering losses and disorder. Granted with topological protection, advanced functionalities are expected to be achieved in active, tuneable and nonreciprocal topological structures. Here we introduce the field of topological photonics and highlight the recent developments in bridging topological photonics with nonlinear optics for a control of photonic flows.
