This paper describes research aimed at developing control technologies that target sexual reproduction in weeds. The technologies that will be developed should differentiate between weeds and the surrounding crop by acting selectively on one of two aspects of plant reproduction: self-ncompatibility and the production of viable male gametes. The cruciferous weed wild radish is the main target for this research because of its importance as a weed and because of its close taxonomic relationship to the widely used model species, Arabidopsis thaliana and Brassica oleracea.en_AU
