Abstract

The discrete vortex solitons in two-dimensional optically induced photonic lattices were investigated. For a variety of input conditions and lattice parameters, the vortex was generated in a self-focusing nonlinear medium. It was observed that vortex experiences discrete diffraction, as more energy of the vortex beam transfers farther away from its center. The results confirm that the lattice stabilizes the vortex beam in the form of a nondiffracting four-lobe stationay structure with a screw phase dislocation.
