Abstract

My original, "Whoops", was composed over the chord sequence of "Giant Steps",a John Coltrane original comprising of dense harmonic movement cycling through three key centres a major 3rd apart. The improvisation focuses on playing in a melodic way whilst playing consecutive quavers however during the double time passages my approach is much more linear and chromatic in design.
