We present an accurate numerical study of the influence an the external dc electric field on the process of single-photon double ionization of the negative hydrogen ion at photon energies from the threshold to 30 eV. We demonstrate that the presence of an external dc electric field of the order of 0.005 a.u. may considerably alter the cross section of the process.
