Abstract

In the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles hangs a work by American artist Roy Lichtenstein called Peace Through Chemistry.1 In his characteristic cartoon style, Lichtenstein parodies both Soviet realism and trade union art in depicting the chemical industry's heroic contributions to peace and prosperity.
