Abstract

Premiere and national tour of new chamber duet for cello and guitar by Karin Schaupp and Umberto Clerici. The first half of the concert program features Schubert’s beautiful Arpeggione Sonata (the arpeggione was a romantic hybrid instrument akin to both the cello and the guitar, so it is most fitting to play this unique work in its transcription for cello and guitar duo), alongside the premiere of a wonderful new work written especially for the duo by Australian composer Natalie Williams. The second half of the program will take the audience on a sumptuous journey through Spain and South America, featuring works by De Falla, Piazzolla and the Brazilian great Radames Gnattali
