The Names of Tourism Sites in Nusa Penida from Ethno-Linguistic History to Ecotourism

Abstract

By the grace of the almighty God Ida Sanghyang Widhi Wasa, the book entitled �The Name of the Tourism Places in Nusa Penida: From Ethno-Linguistic-History to Ecotourism� can finally be published. This book contains the the place names of tourist destination in Nusa Penida, both known and un known or having the potency to be known. The information in this book covers the location, the meaning of the names, the stories behind the existence of those places or temples in those particular areas and their benefit for the local people.

This book is written in two languages, Indonesian and English with the purpose that it can be used as the source of information by people working in tourism especially working as the guides for foreign tourist visiting Nusa Penida, and can also be used as the learning resources by those who want to learn English for tourism.

This book will never be able to be published without the support from various parties. On behave of the research team I would like to extend our gratitude to the Udayana University and the Faculty of Cultural Sciences that have provided the research finance, the informants (listed) who have been willing to spend their precious time to answer our questions, and also to the people of Nusa Penida who have made it easier for us to meet the informants. We do expect that this research can be continued so that the effort to make Nusa Penida more well known to the in ternational world can be well done without damaging the local tradition and culture.
