dc.description.abstractWe replaced Se in Ge<inf>11.5</inf>As<inf>24</inf>Se<inf>64.5</inf> glasses with S, and prepared several Ge<inf>11.5</inf>As<inf>24</inf>S<inf>64.5·x</inf>Se<inf>64.5·(1 - x)</inf> glasses with x = 0, 25%, 50%, 75% and 100%, respectively, in order to improve the laser damage threshold in the glasses. Through the results of various measurements, we concluded that the substitution of Se with S in the glasses has negligible effect on glass transition temperature T<inf>g</inf> and elastic properties. However, this could change the optical band gap and linear and nonlinear refractive indices of the glasses and significantly improve the laser damage threshold.
