Abstract
As Complex humanitarian emergencies and natural disasters occur with greater severity and frequency in various parts of the rapidly globalizing world, questions about humanitarianism - particularly how it should be conceived and practiced - have become more relevant. In spite of conventional perspectives of humanitarianism as constituting a 'universal' value that transcends both time and context, there are, in fact, divers interpretations of this complex concept.
