The Treaty of Versailles: What did Australia Gain?
Abstract
Australia had fought hard for independent Dominion representation at the Paris Peace Conference of 1919. With this achieved, Prime Minister WM Hughes energetically pursed Australia's distinctive interests but, to his greater disappointment, he had only limited success, especially on the critically important question of who should pay for the war.
