Abstract

The first direct characterization of continuous variable quantum Stokes parameters was reported. A continuous light beam with more than three dB of simultaneous squeezing in three of the four Stokes parameters was generated. The polarization squeezed beam was produced by mixing two quadrature squeezed beams on a polarizing beam splitter. Results represented on a quantum version of Poincare sphere depicted that in this space a polarization squeezed beam generated from two amplitude squeezed beams possessed a cigar like quantum noise distribution. The one from two phase squeezed beams consisted of pancakelike quantum noise distribution.
