Abstract

A study was performed on controlled switching of discrete solitons in waveguide arrays. The study involved weak steplike modulation of the coupling strength in the array with the period larger than the waveguide spacing. Digitized switching of a narrow input beam for as many as 11 waveguides in the engineered waveguide arrays was demonstrated.
