Abstract

A second species of Polypedilum (Diptera: Chironomidae) is inferred to tolerate desiccation in an African rock pool habitat similar to the well-known anhydrobiotic Polypedilum vanderplankiHinton. The species, Polypedilum ovahimba sp. nov., is described and illustrated as new to science from Namibia.
