Abstract

The book is divided into five sections (The Evolution of Social Learning; Ethnic Groups and Markers; Human Cooperation, Reciprocity and Group Selection; Archaeology and Culture History; and Links to Other Disciplines) with short original introductions to each section. The absence of more compelling applications of Boyd and Richerson's concepts and methods may simply be because the discipline has yet to see its golden age (perhaps due to the historical stigma attached to the suggestion that human behaviour can be explained in Darwinian evolutionary terms).
